How To Get Sound On Reddit

Alright, gather 'round, dear internet denizens, for I've got a tale to tell about the great Reddit sound conundrum. You know, that moment when you're scrolling through r/aww, and suddenly, you realize that the adorable puppy playing the piano is silent. The horror!

First Things First: Why the Heck Isn't There Sound?

Well, buckle up, because we're diving into the rabbit hole of Reddit's audio policies. You see, Reddit's default settings are like that one friend who's always on a silent retreat. They're all about the text, the images, the memes. Sound? Pfft, that's just noise, they say. But fear not, for there's a way to make old Reddit sing like a canary.

Step 1: The Magic of 'nsfw' (No, Not That Kind)

Now, before you start thinking I'm leading you down a dark, soundless path, let me clarify. The 'nsfw' I'm talking about stands for 'Not Safe For Work' sounds. It's a sneaky little toggle that, when enabled, allows sound to play automatically. It's like giving Reddit a little pep talk, saying, "Hey, it's okay to make some noise!"

To enable it, click on your user icon in the top right corner, then select 'User Settings'. Scroll down to the 'Content Options' section, and you'll find the 'Autoplay' option. Toggle it on, and voila! Reddit's just become the world's chattiest parrot.

But Wait, There's More!

Now, you might be thinking, "That's great and all, but what if I'm on my phone, and I don't want to drain my battery with all this sudden sound?" Well, my friend, Reddit's got you covered. Sort of.

You see, Reddit's mobile app is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to sound. Some subreddits allow sound, some don't. It's like trying to predict the weather in a room full of cats - impossible. But fear not, for there's a workaround. Sort of.

How to get sound on Reddit?

You can try enabling 'Media Autoplay' in your phone's settings. But be warned, this can be a bit of a gamble. It might work, it might not. It's like playing a game of Reddit roulette. But hey, at least you're in the game, right?

When All Else Fails, There's Always the 'Mute' Button

Alright, so maybe you've tried everything, and Reddit's still quieter than a library full of librarians. Well, my friend, it might be time to face the music - literally. You see, sometimes, the best way to get sound on Reddit is to click on the video or GIF and watch it on the platform it came from. It's like going to the source, asking them to turn up the volume.

And who knows? You might just find that the video or GIF was never meant to have sound in the first place. It's like finding out that the 'silent' movie you've been watching was actually a silent movie. Mind. Blown.

And That, My Friends, Is the Tale of Reddit's Sound

So there you have it, folks. The great Reddit sound conundrum, solved. Or at least, explained. Now, go forth, and let Reddit sing its siren song. Just remember, if it gets too loud, you can always hit the 'mute' button. Or, you know, leave Reddit open in another tab. Whatever works.
