I Know I Can Be What I Want To Be

So, there I was, stuck in traffic, sweating bullets in my suit, and suddenly, I hear this little kid's voice from the backseat. "Dad, why can't you just fly to work?" I chuckled, "Well, buddy, I'm not a bird, I can't just take to the skies." He looked at me, dead serious, and said, "But you said you can be anything you want to be." I was taken aback. Here's this tiny human, challenging my grown-up, practical reality with a simple, powerful truth.

Now, I'm not suggesting we all start trying to sprout wings and take flight. But that conversation got me thinking about our dreams, our aspirations, and that little voice inside us that says, "You can do it!"

Believing in the Impossible

You know, it's funny how we're encouraged to dream big as kids, but as we grow up, we're expected to be more 'realistic'. But what if 'realistic' is just a fancy word for giving up on our dreams?

Think about it. Every great achievement, every groundbreaking innovation, every 'impossible' thing that's now possible - they all started with someone believing they could do it. From the Wright brothers to Elon Musk, from Rosa Parks to Malala Yousafzai, they all had one thing in common: they believed in their dreams, and they acted on them.

But What About Failure?

I hear you, friend. Failure is scary. It's like standing at the edge of a cliff, looking down, and wondering if you'll fly or fall. But here's the thing: even if you fall, you're not out of the game. You just learn to fly better next time.

Failure is just a stepping stone, a lesson learned, a chance to grow. It's not the end of the road, it's a detour. And every detour teaches us something new about ourselves and our journey.

So, How Do You Start?

First, you've got to believe. Belief is the fuel that powers your dreams. It's what gets you out of bed in the morning, ready to take on the world. It's what makes you say, "I know I can be what I want to be."

Next, you've got to act. Belief is great, but it's just the starting point. You've got to take action, no matter how small. Every step counts. Remember, even the longest journey starts with a single step.

And finally, you've got to persist. Dreams don't work on our schedule. They take time, and they take effort. So, you've got to keep going, keep pushing, keep believing. Because one day, you'll look back and see how far you've come. And you'll know, it was all worth it.

So, go on. Dream big. Believe in yourself. Take that leap. You never know, you might just learn to fly.
