Why I'm Like a Cat When It Comes to Doctors
Alright, let me start by saying I'm not one of those superheroes who can bench press a bus or run marathons without breaking a sweat. I'm just your average Joe, but when it comes to visiting the doctor, I turn into a cat - you know, the one that's been MIA for days, suddenly appears at the door, gives you a quick "meow", and then disappears again?
I mean, who really enjoys spending their Saturday morning in a waiting room, surrounded by every other sick person in town? It's like the universe's way of saying, "Hey, you thought you were getting a break? Here's a nice dose of everyone else's germs!"
My Body, My Fortress
I like to think of my body as a fortress. It's got its own little army of white blood cells, and they're doing a pretty good job of keeping the bad guys at bay. So, why would I want to invite some stranger in a white coat to poke and prod around, just to tell me what I already know - that I'm not feeling 100%?
Must Read
I'm not saying I never go to the doctor. I'm not that crazy. I just wait until I've got a good reason, like when I broke my leg trying to impress a girl with my parkour skills (long story, don't ask). But for the everyday sniffles, the occasional stomach bug, I figure, why not let my body's own army handle it?
Doctor Google to the Rescue
Now, I know what you're thinking. "But what if it's something serious?" Well, that's where Doctor Google comes in. I mean, sure, he's got some weird quirks - like diagnosing every symptom with cancer - but he's usually right about the common stuff. Plus, he's open 24/7, never judges me for my late-night Googling, and I don't even have to put on pants to see him.
And if Doctor Google can't help, there's always my trusty friend, Time. I've found that most things, given enough time, either get better on their own or become so annoying that I finally cave and go see a real doctor. It's like that old saying, "Time heals all wounds... except for that one weird cut on your finger that just won't go away. You should probably get that checked out."
But When in Rome...
Now, I'm not saying I'm never wrong. There was this one time I thought I had the flu, but it turned out to be appendicitis. I was in so much pain, I couldn't even laugh at my own jokes anymore. That's when I knew it was time to call in the big guns - my mom.

She dragged me to the ER, and sure enough, they found my appendix was about to explode. I spent the next few days in the hospital, eating Jell-O and watching daytime TV. It was... an experience. But hey, at least I got a cool scar out of it.
So, Here's to the Cat-Like Among Us
Look, I'm not saying I'm right, and I'm not saying you're wrong if you're the type who schedules a check-up every time you sneeze. We're all just trying to navigate this crazy thing called life, and sometimes that means waiting out a cold or scheduling an appointment with the doc.
But if you're like me, and you find yourself humming the "I Never Go to the Doctor" tune, just remember - it's okay to be a cat sometimes. Just don't wait until your appendix is about to burst before you decide to grace the doctor with your presence.
And hey, if you ever see me in the waiting room, don't tell me I told you so. Just hand me a magazine and let's pretend we're both there for something minor, like a paper cut or a hangnail. Deal?
