Is M&s Open On Good Friday

Ever found yourself craving a Marks & Spencer's Colin the Caterpillar cake on a Friday, only to wonder, "Is M&S open today?" It's a question that's been buzzing around like a, well, caterpillar in a garden. Let's dive into the world of M&S opening hours, especially on that curious day we call Good Friday.

Why the curiosity about Good Friday?

Good Friday, a day that marks the end of Lent and the start of Easter weekend, is a public holiday in many places. But what does that mean for our beloved high street stores? Is it a day to stay closed, or do they roll out the red carpet for shoppers? Let's find out!

M&S: A Tale of Two Halves

M&S, the retail giant that's been around since 1884, has a bit of a split personality when it comes to Good Friday. It's not a one-size-fits-all answer, folks. It all depends on where you live.

In England and Wales, M&S stores are usually open on Good Friday. It's like they're saying, "Why miss out on a day of shopping fun?" But remember, hours might be reduced, so it's always a good idea to check before you go. It's like planning a picnic - you wouldn't want to turn up without any sandwiches, would you?

Now, if you're in Scotland, things are a bit different. M&S stores in Scotland typically remain closed on Good Friday. It's like they're giving their staff a well-deserved break, just like you might take a day off to binge-watch your favorite show.

Why the difference?

You might be wondering, "Why the difference, M&S? What gives?" Well, it all boils down to history and tradition. In Scotland, Good Friday is still considered a day of observance, with many businesses closing their doors. It's like respecting a quiet library rule in a bustling city.

On the other hand, in England and Wales, the tradition of closing shops on Good Friday has largely faded. It's like that old family recipe you don't make anymore because everyone's moved on to new flavors.
