So, I was chilling with my friend the other day, you know, just sipping on our lattes, when she drops this bombshell. "I've been to London, dude!" I mean, I nearly choked on my foam art. London, really?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I've always wanted to go. Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the whole shebang. But my friend? Little ol' Priya who still can't figure out how to use the fancy coffee machine at work? She's been there, done that, got the tea (literally, I bet).
Spill the Tea, Girl
So, I lean in, eyes wide, and I'm like, "Okay, spill. When? How? Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She just laughs, that smug little laugh that says, "I've got a secret, and you're gonna love it."
Must Read
Turns out, she went last year. I know, right? Last year! I was still trying to figure out how to use my new phone, and she was jetting off to London. Life's not fair, folks.
London Calling
But anyway, she starts telling me about her trip. The British Museum, the London Eye, the whole nine yards. She even saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. I mean, who does that?
She says it was cold, but not as cold as Delhi in winter. I mean, that's saying something, right? She bundled up in her mom's old wool coat (you know the one, the itchy one with the weird buttons) and braved the chill.
She even tried fish and chips. I know, I know, it's not exactly adventurous, but for Priya, that's like climbing Mount Everest. She hates seafood. But she said she did it for the 'authentic experience.' Bless her heart.
Shopping and Stuff
Now, you know Priya loves her some shopping. So, of course, she hit up Oxford Street. She said it was like Sarojini Nagar, but with more money and less bargaining. She bought this cute little Union Jack bag, which she showed off like it was a diamond necklace.
She also went to this place called Camden Market. She said it was like a flea market, but with better food. She tried this thing called a 'full English breakfast.' I don't know what that is, but it sounds like a heart attack on a plate. She loved it, though. Go figure.

And Then There Was the Weather
Now, I've got to talk about the weather. Because, you know, we're Indians. We can't not talk about the weather. She said it rained. A lot. Like, every day. I mean, it's London, what did she expect?
But she said it was nice. The rain, I mean. She said it made everything look... what's the word she used? Oh yeah, 'quaint.' I don't know what that means, but it sounds fancy, so I'll go with it.
Would She Go Back?
So, I ask her, you know, "Would you go back?" And she says, "In a heartbeat." I mean, really? She's been to London, and she's ready to go back? What am I doing with my life?
But then she looks at me, all serious, and she says, "You should come with me next time." And I'm like, "Next time? Girl, I can't even afford to go once." But she just laughs and says, "We'll figure something out." I mean, who is this person, and what has she done with my friend Priya?
So, That's the Tea
And that, my friends, is the story of how Priya went to London and I didn't. The end. No, really, that's the end. I haven't even started planning my revenge trip yet. But I will. Oh, I will.
Until then, I'll just be here, sipping my latte, dreaming of Big Ben, and plotting my revenge. Wish me luck, folks. I'm gonna need it.
