So, How Much Do Coronation Street Actors Actually Get Paid?
I was down the pub the other night, and you know how it is, the conversation turned to Coronation Street. Now, I'm not one to gossip, but I swear, some of those characters have been on the cobbles since before I was born. So, I got to thinking, how much do these actors actually get paid to play out our favourite soap drama?
Let's Start with the Big Guns
Now, I'm not talking about the Rovers' finest here, but the leading actors. You know, the ones who've been there forever and always seem to be at the centre of the drama. According to Heat magazine, the top earners can take home around £200,000 a year. That's right, £200,000! Now, I'm not saying they don't deserve it, but it's still a lot of money for pulling faces and shouting at each other in a pretend pub.
But let's not forget, these are the main characters. They're the ones who've been in the most storylines, had the most dramatic exits and entrances, and generally kept us glued to our screens. So, maybe they do deserve that extra zero on their paycheck. But what about the rest of the cast?

From Street Cars to the Rovers
Now, I'm not saying everyone on the street should be rolling in it, but it's still a living, right? Well, according to The Sun, some of the lesser-known actors can take home around £50,000 a year. That's still not bad for a day's work, but it's a far cry from the top earners. And let's not forget, these are the ones who often have the most gruelling schedules, with early morning starts and late finishes.
But here's where it gets interesting. Remember when I said some of these actors have been on the street since before I was born? Well, that means they've been there for decades. And while their pay might not be as high as the top earners, over time, it all adds up. So, maybe they're not rolling in it now, but they've certainly done alright for themselves over the years.
And What About the Kids?
Now, I'm not talking about the Weatherfield primary school here, but the child actors. You know, the ones who play the kids of our favourite characters. Well, according to Digital Spy, they can take home around £100,000 a year. Now, I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty happy with that at any age!
How much do Emmerdale, EastEnders and Coronation Street actors get paid
But seriously, it's not all about the money, is it? I mean, sure, it's nice to be paid well for your work, but at the end of the day, these actors are part of a long-running soap opera that's been a staple in British television for over six decades. And that's something to be proud of, no matter how much you're taking home at the end of the day.
So, Is It All About the Money?
Well, I guess that's up to you. Personally, I think it's a bit of both. I mean, sure, the money's nice, but it's also about the love of the craft, the passion for the storylines, and the joy of being part of a long-running, beloved show. And at the end of the day, that's what really matters, isn't it?
But hey, I'm just a guy down the pub, what do I know? Maybe you've got your own thoughts on the matter. So, go on, let's hear it. How much do you think Coronation Street actors should be paid? And more importantly, who do you think deserves a pay rise? Let me know in the comments below.
