Dubai Government staff told to work from home
The Dubai Executive Council has issued a call for some government employees to work from home remotely in a bid to halt the spread of coronavirus.
The decision is part of precautionary measures against COVID-19 and is aimed at vulnerable workers including pregnant women and the elderly.
Employees are being encouraged to carry out virtual meetings through digital platforms and to avoid business trips unless absolutely necessary.

Amazon to pay staff two-week COVID-19 sick pay
Amazon is providing two weeks of paid sick leave to all employees diagnosed with coronavirus or quarantined to prevent the illness spreading.
The announcement covers both full-time and seasonal workers, and follows Amazon’s decision to pay hourly workers even if they are not showing up due to coronavirus.
Amazon had previously said it was “actively supporting employees and contractors on an individual, case-by-case basis” if they were affected by coronavirus.

Shopify offers staff home-working equipment
E-commerce platform Shopify is giving all their employees who are working remotely due to coronavirus $1000 to equip their at-home working set-ups.
The company has told all of its employees to work from home starting from March 16, to prevent the spread of the virus.
Employees have also been told to bring home any equipment from the office needed to do their job remotely.
