With rising job vacancies, the sector continues to go from strength to strength in the job market.

New data from CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job board, has found that advertised job vacancies in Customer Service jumped by 18.6% in May, which is good news for candidates looking for work in the coming months.

The data, which analysed the number of jobs in the UK’s key industries in May 2017, compared with April 2017, found that Customer Service was one of the top sectors for this growth, outstripping the national average of 17.7%. In fact, the top ten industries which saw the biggest increase in jobs, and are therefore the best places to look for work right now, include:

  1. Hospitality – 32.4%
  2. Construction – 23.8%
  3. Manufacturing – 23.2%
  4. IT – 21.8%
  5. Legal – 18.8%
  6. Customer Service – 18.6%
  7. Catering – 18.2%
  8. Accounting – 15.9%
  9. Retail – 15.2%
  10. Engineering – 14.1%

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, comments: “It’s great to see business confidence is remaining strong, with job vacancies increasing in Customer Service. Summer is just around the corner and there are plenty of opportunities out there for keen job hunters in the sector, with an increasing number of roles available.”

Furthermore, average salaries across the UK rose by 4.7% year-on-year, with Customer Service seeing a strong 7.8% increase over the same time period. This is promising news for the nation’s job hunters, as businesses work hard to attract the top talent into their organisations.

Alongside this, the sector also saw positive growth in job applications month-on-month, with the Customer Service industry experiencing a 5.6% increase over the period.

Biggins concludes: “There have been many promises to build a stronger job market in light of the upcoming election and it’s great to see that businesses in the Customer Service sector are not slowing down, as they push harder to entice talented candidates into their organisations. Not only this, but with salaries also seeing an impressive increase last month, job hunters are in a strong position when it comes to securing the best packages.”
