Payment solutions and business management tools technology firm Square has announced a strategic partnership with Sysco, a global food service distributor, alongside the launch of innovative features aimed at transforming restaurant operations.
The collaboration brings Square’s intuitive technology to Sysco’s vast network of customers, enhancing efficiency and supporting growth in the food and beverage industry. As part of Sysco’s Restaurant Solutions programme, Square’s tools will now be promoted and sold to Sysco customers.
Neil Russell, Chief Administrative Officer at Sysco, said: “Square’s technology is comprehensive and easy-to-use for operators and workers alike, and we know that their solutions can help food and beverage businesses work smarter, operate more efficiently, and find new avenues of growth.”
In addition to the partnership, Square is rolling out several new features designed to address critical challenges faced by restaurants and bars. One such feature is Bar Tabs, which enables preauthorisation for credit cards and digital wallets, simplifying guest checkouts and enhancing payment security. The feature is poised to become a game-changer for bars and breweries, eliminating the need to hold onto customer cards and reducing unclosed tabs.
Another standout feature is Instant Payouts, allowing restaurants using Square Checking to access funds from third-party delivery platforms instantly, avoiding the usual delays of up to 11 days. This helps businesses maintain liquidity, restock inventory, and meet payroll without added fees.
Square also introduced House Accounts, enabling restaurants to invoice trusted clients on a flexible schedule. This feature caters to regulars and institutional clients, providing a seamless billing experience.
Ming-Tai Huh, Head of Food and Beverage at Square, said: “Day in and day out, our sellers are tasked with navigating the ever-changing and increasingly complex restaurant environment. We pride ourselves on listening to their challenges and needs so that we can deliver new solutions that make their lives easier. Any leg up we can give businesses – whether that’s through time saved or quicker access to revenue without more fees – is worth it to better equip them to succeed.”
