Skipton Building Society returned to Wembley Stadium for the 2018 UK Customer Experience Awards and made one of the biggest impacts of the day, winning an incredible three Gold Awards.

This year, Skipton’s presentations included an overview of the brand’s innovative ‘Skipton Link’ (S-Link) service – a video appointment feature that allows customers to interact with staff on a face-to-face basis, regardless of where they are.

Implementing such technology shows that Skipton is preparing for the near future, where – according to marketing, tech, and data specialists CACI – it is predicted that 72 percent of adults in the UK will do all their banking via smartphone/tablet apps by 2023, and visit a physical branch just twice a year.

The clearly impressed judging panels awarded Skipton Gold in two categories as a result of their S-Link feature: Best Customers at the Heart of Everything – Project/Solution and Best Financial Services – Banking and Investment.

Meanwhile, the Gold award in the Best New Improved Product or Service category was earned after Skipton delegates presented on the building society’s new Lifetime Individual Savings Account, which is designed to help customers aged 18 to 39 buy their first home or save towards retirement.

The hat-trick of awards followed the firm’s success at the 2017 UK Customer Experience Awards, when they won Gold in the Customer at the Heart of Everything – Financial Services category for the outstanding work of staff at Skipton’s Bury branch, who implemented services and increased support for customers living with dementia.

Speaking of this year’s wins, Skipton’s Director of Direct Distribution, Claire Davey, said: “It’s always exciting to receive awards, but being recognised for Customer Experience makes me feel particularly proud. The variety of awards we received also demonstrates the extent of the work we’re doing across the building society as a whole. We’re really delighted with these achievements and we’ll aim to do our best for customers in all areas, however they choose to interact with us.”

Meanwhile, in the Best Customers at the Heart of Everything – Project/Solution category, Silver was won by Fresenius Kabi Ltd and Calea UK Ltd, while Bronze was awarded to Close Brothers Retail Finance.

In Best Financial Services – Banking and Investment, online mortgage broker Trussle claimed Silver, while the Bronze winners was HSBC UK. In the Best New Improved Product or Service category, EE won Silver, while Bronze was awarded to Concentrix.
