Same-day service platform Taskrabbit is expanding its partnership with IKEA to offer a fully integrated furniture assembly solution for customers.

The new collaboration enables IKEA shoppers to book and pay for Taskrabbit assembly services directly at the time of purchase, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

The service is now available in all major metropolitan areas in the United States that have an IKEA store, as well as nationwide in Canada, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The integration simplifies the process for customers, allowing them to arrange for professional assembly at a transparent price during checkout.

Previously, IKEA customers could receive a quote for assembly through the IKEA website but had to navigate to Taskrabbit’s platform to complete the booking and payment. With the new integration, skilled Taskers, independent contractors who utilise the Taskrabbit platform, can now provide assembly services directly tied to the customer’s furniture order.

Javier Quiñones, CEO of IKEA U.S., said: “Taskrabbit’s assembly service has been a game-changer for our customers, offering them convenience and reliability, two must-haves when shopping at IKEA. This integration also provides IKEA with a competitive advantage—we’ve seen improved customer satisfaction and increased sales as customers include assembly with their furniture purchase.”

Early results from the partnership reveal that the seamless booking experience has led to a 50% increase in customers opting for assembly services. Additionally, the average order value for purchases that include assembly has surged by 4.7 times, while the rate of returns for complex furniture items has decreased by nearly 40%.
