Sinch and Verizon are deepening their partnership to push Rich Communication Services (RCS) into the mainstream, expanding RCS for Business Messaging (RBM) to Verizon subscribers across the U.S.

Announced at Enterprise Connect in Orlando, this move aims to accelerate the adoption of RCS, a technology long touted as the next evolution of business messaging but still struggling to gain widespread traction.

The partnership allows businesses to send feature-rich, interactive, and verified messages directly to Verizon users, offering a more engaging alternative to traditional SMS. With benefits like branded messaging, read receipts, and enhanced security, RCS promises to shake up how businesses communicate with customers—if enough companies and consumers embrace it.

Lodema Steinbach, VP of product and carrier relations, North America at Sinch, said: “Partnering with MNOs like Verizon underscores our commitment to providing expanded reach for RCS with innovative communications solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.”

Sinch, which provides RCS through its Customer Communications Cloud, already powers messaging for brands like Nespresso, EasyPark, and major financial institutions.

Despite RCS’s potential, its rollout has been slow, hindered by inconsistent carrier support and the dominance of other messaging platforms like Apple’s iMessage and WhatsApp. With this latest push, Sinch and Verizon hope to tip the scales, bringing secure and interactive business messaging to more consumers.
