Qantas offers refunds or upgrades to business class for hundreds of passengers who mistakenly bought first-class flights at a significantly discounted price.
The error, which was caused by a coding glitch, resulted in flights between Australia and the US being advertised on the Qantas website at up to 85% off the regular first-class price.
First-class tickets were mistakenly advertised at unusually low prices, and roughly 300 people could book round-trip flights between Australia and the US in eight hours.
Many travelers believed they had discovered a rare opportunity to purchase a Qantas first-class ticket, which typically includes amenities like airport lounge access, champagne, a spacious seat, and premium bedding.
However, the cheap tickets were the result of a coding error, as confirmed by a Qantas spokesperson. While the exact details of the error remain unclear, it’s evident that the offer was too good to be true.
Qantas has offered passengers affected by the pricing error the option to fly in business class at no additional cost or receive a full refund.Even though they won’t be able to enjoy the first-class experience they initially anticipated, the business-class flights will still be significantly discounted, costing approximately 65% less than the usual price.
