DoorDash has announced a new feature to streamline online grocery shopping, addressing the hassle of manually adding items to your cart. This allows users to sync their grocery lists directly with the app, facilitating the process of stocking up on essentials. iOS users gain an extra advantage, as they can import lists seamlessly from Apple’s Reminders app, making shopping even more convenient.
To use this feature, shoppers select their preferred store and choose either “Create a list” or “Import a list.” The create option lets users copy and paste lists from anywhere on their phone, such as recipes, or type items directly into a search box for instant results. The import option, currently limited to iOS, pulls data from the Reminders app, with Android support expected in the future.
When shopping for groceries, users will see various options for each item. For example, typing “onion” will display choices like white, yellow, or red onions. Adding items to the cart is as easy as tapping the plus (+) symbol next to the desired option.
This new feature boosts user convenience and strengthens DoorDash’s position in a competitive market that includes Grubhub, Instacart, and Uber Eats. By integrating list syncing, DoorDash aims to engage users more deeply while setting itself apart from competitors.
The grocery list tool is part of a broader update ahead of the holiday season. DoorDash has also partnered with Bon Appétit magazine to provide free recipes and the option to have ingredients delivered from local stores.
Additionally, DoorDash has improved its search functionality. Users can now look for specific items across multiple retailers, with results showing prices and delivery estimates in one place. While this feature is currently limited to alcohol, plans are underway to expand it to categories like beauty and electronics.
