SoundHound AI unveiled an in-car voice commerce platform at CES 2025. This platform enables drivers and passengers to order takeout using voice commands directly from their vehicle’s infotainment system.
“What we’re introducing here at CES is a seamless way to order your favorite takeout on-the-go using natural speech, completely hands-free from the vehicle. And what begins here with food and restaurants will ultimately open up a whole new commercial ecosystem for vehicle and device manufacturers everywhere,” said Keyvan Mohajer, CEO and co-founder of SoundHound AI.
The platform provides an intuitive way to discover and order from various restaurants, all while en route. Users can find the nearest pizza place, order a burrito from a convenient spot, or arrange pick-up at their favourite sub shop, all without lifting a finger.
SoundHound’s advanced voice commerce system allows users to place orders, complete transactions, and navigate to pick-up locations—all hands-free. The company is partnering with leading automakers to bring this revolutionary feature to market in 2025, promising a new level of convenience for drivers.
Research indicates strong interest from US and European drivers, with many eager to adopt in-vehicle voice ordering. By integrating voice commerce, drivers can bypass traditional drive-thrus and sync food pick-ups with their journey, using GPS to ensure hot meals are ready upon arrival.
SoundHound plans to expand this capability beyond food, aiming to introduce voice-driven transactions for banking, ticketing, appointments, and more.
The recent acquisition of Allset has accelerated the development of this voice commerce ecosystem, positioning SoundHound as a leader in conversational AI across multiple industries.
