Target is ready to deliver a seamless and rewarding shopping experience this holiday season with over 400,000 team members, including 100,000 seasonal hires. Backed by investments in technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and a robust supply chain, the omnichannel retailer aims to meet its guests’ high expectations during the busiest time of the year.

“Advancements in our technology and intelligence platforms also fuel the speed at which we can deliver for guests during peak seasons, like the holidays. Over the next few weeks, we expect our network of 11 sortation centers — which work with our stores to fulfill guest orders quickly and efficiently — to process up to 20,000 packages an hour,” said  COO Michael Fiddelke, Target.

Chief Information Officer Brett Craig emphasised how AI and tech are crucial in creating emotional connections with shoppers. Beyond helping guests find their needs, Target uses technology to provide speed, accuracy, and personalisation. This includes AI-powered chatbots that assist store teams, Apple CarPlay integrations for smoother navigation and precision forecasting to ensure the right products are available at the right time.

For example, this year’s holiday offerings include over 50 new peppermint-themed items from Target’s Good & Gather and Favorite Day brands. The supply chain team works to precisely time shipments, ensuring shelves are stocked with seasonal favourites without overloading store backrooms or disappointing guests.

Preparation for the holidays begins months in advance, with store teams coordinating backroom space and fine-tuning plans to handle disruptions like weather delays. Target locations were ready to transition smoothly from Halloween to Thanksgiving inventory by October.

In addition to its holiday readiness, Target has also been focused on affordability. Earlier this year, it lowered prices on 5,000 frequently purchased items, from milk to pet food, ensuring value remains a cornerstone of its customer promise.

With its combination of innovation, precision, and guest-centric planning, Target sets the stage for another successful holiday season.
