Zoom has unveiled major AI updates, evolving its AI Companion from a personal assistant into an agentic tool that streamlines workflows across Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, Docs, Phone, Whiteboard, and more. The AI Companion now executes tasks, manages multi-step actions, and collaborates with specialised AI agents, such as Zoom Virtual Agent for customer service and Zoom Revenue Accelerator for sales. Users can also integrate third-party AI agents like ServiceNow AI and create custom agents for specific needs.

“AI Companion is evolving from a personal assistant to being truly agentic, which signals a major leap forward in how AI can enhance productivity and collaboration at work,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom. “We’re delivering value for our customers through AI agents and agentic skills that solve real customer problems, helping them connect, collaborate, and get more done, all within the Zoom platform our users trust and love.”

AI-powered productivity tools

Zoom boosts workplace efficiency with AI-driven tools such as calendar management, meeting agendas, task automation, live meeting notes, and voicemail summaries. Zoom Docs gain AI-assisted writing, document structuring, and automated data table generation. The new Zoom Drive will be a central repository for managing productivity assets.

Custom AI add-ons for businesses

Launching in April for $12 per user per month, the Custom AI Companion add-on will enable organisations to tailor AI Companion with custom meeting templates, industry-specific dictionaries, and personalised AI-generated avatars for Zoom Clips. AI-powered meeting summaries and a digital personal AI coach will also be available later this year.

Enhancements for customer experience

Zoom Contact Center is integrating agentic AI skills to improve self-service interactions and support agents. Features include AI-powered intent routing (March), conversational AI for customer queries (spring beta), and Advanced Quality Management for automated interaction scoring (May).

Industry-specific AI solutions

Zoom is rolling out AI-driven enhancements for healthcare, education, and frontline workers. Zoom Workplace for Clinicians (March) will automate clinical note-taking for in-office and telehealth visits.

In addition, AI-generated lecture summaries (May) will help teachers and students, and live notes functionality will come later this year. Also, a mobile-first solution launching in April will streamline communications and task management.
