With the holiday season approaching, Target has announced plans to hire around 100,000 seasonal employees for positions across its stores and supply chain facilities. In addition to bringing in temporary staff, the company will offer its current employees the opportunity to take on extra hours, according to a recent news release from Target.
“Our Target team is key to providing you an easy and joyful holiday shopping experience, and this holiday season, we’re prepped to deliver with the best team in retail,” stated the release.
This move is consistent with Target’s previous seasonal hiring strategies despite economic forecasts predicting that retail sales will grow at the slowest rate since 2018, as highlighted by a Reuters report.
As part of its holiday strategy, Target aims to introduce a wider range of budget-friendly items to appeal to cost-conscious shoppers. Moreover, the company will start its holiday deals early, with the launch of Target Circle week starting on October 6.
Bath & Body Works is another company that has announced its plans to hire over 30,000 seasonal workers. Both companies are preparing for the busy shopping season by offering new deals and ramping up staffing.
These moves are necessary as consumers are already starting their holiday shopping and adapting their recipes and grocery shopping lists to the changing seasons.
