A group working to make Northern Ireland’s public sector accessible to more people than ever before via digitisation has been honoured at the UK Digital Experience Awards 2017.
The Digital Transformation Service, which was created by the NI Department of Finance, won the Digital Team category at the November 22 awards in Wembley Stadium.
Judges learned during the group’s presentation about how the DTS is transforming citizen services across Northern Ireland’s entire public sector, including government departments, and bringing it into the digital age while also improving and simplifying the user experience.
As a result of the team’s ‘digital first’ ethos, the primary method for residents of Northern Ireland to interact with government services has become online portals.
After accepting the award on behalf of his colleagues, Trevor Steenson, Digital Transformation Programme Director said:
“As a small team, winning the Digital Team award in the UK Digital Experience Awards 2017 will help to raise the visibility and credibility of the work of our team both across the Northern Ireland Public Sector and the wider IT community.
More importantly the award gives well deserved recognition to all the team members for their hard work, passion, perseverance and dedication to the programme.”
Meanwhile, the runner-up award in the Digital Team category was presented to B&Q in partnership with Digits Industries Ltd.
