Aldi has once again outperformed its rivals, taking the title of cheapest UK supermarket in August according to Which?.
The consumer group compared prices of 62 popular groceries at eight major UK supermarkets. Aldi emerged as the winner, with an average shopping bill of £110.58 for the 62 items.
The 62 items included branded and own-brand products like Heinz baked beans, Hovis bread, milk, and butter. The analysis considered special offers and loyalty prices but not multi-buy deals.
Another company ranked close to Aldi is Lidl, the second-cheapest supermarket in August, which costs slightly more than Aldi. Waitrose was the most expensive, with a 27% price difference compared to Aldi.
Tesco Clubcard members saved money on their groceries in August compared to non-members.
Sainsbury’s Nectar card members also benefited from lower prices. Morrisons and Waitrose have two-tier pricing, but fewer items were available at a lower price for members this month.
