With an ethos that “buying energy should be as simple as buying cornflakes”, Octopus Energy have won over many eco-aware consumers in recent years, and their success has now been rewarded with a UK Customer Experience Award.

The firm, which cultivates energy from solar farms, won the Utilities category at the awards gala event in Wembley Stadium.

Their ‘Octopus Tracker’ energy tariff – described as the “fairest and most transparent” in the UK, went down well with judges, who awarded them the trophy ahead of rivals including Scottish Water and CNG Ltd.

Octopus Energy was founded in 2011, and has since enjoyed a meteoric rise thanks to tapping into a growing demand for greener energy, while at the same time providing an outstanding Customer Experience.

The company’s CEO, Greg Jackson, told CXM: “Winning the utilities category of such a prestigious award, at such an early stage in our journey is a real honour.

We came to the awards because we are proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but also to learn from more established businesses.

We set up Octopus to be a different kind of energy supplier, one built around customers.  We encourage real time feedback on what works and what doesn’t from our customers and our innovative tech led approach lets us make instant changes to suit their needs.”

Greg added: “Every customer has my email address, and we do find that the best ideas on how to improve customer experience, comes from the customers themselves.
